Experience College

Summer@Conn pre-collegiate offerings are designed for high school students eager to explore their passions and gain new skills in a beautiful college setting. Options in summer 2022 range from intensive world language courses in Chinese, Italian, French and Russian to full-day non-residential programs in modern dance, entrepreneurship, and international diplomacy, all taught by experienced Connecticut College academic staff and faculty.

Venture Incubator

Open to rising 9th-graders to 12th graders. Participants in this program will gain a greater understanding of entrepreneurship, new practical skills in critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving, and awareness of the importance of networking. Over the course of the two-week program, participants will have the opportunity to develop a business concept and explore strategies for bringing their venture to market.

Global Studies Program

Participants in this program will gain a deeper understanding of pressing global issues and develop their capacity to engage across cultural and national boundaries. The week-long non-residential program will focus on the topic of democracy and dialogue, through a global studies course, hands-on training in intercultural dialogue technique, and an introduction to Russian one of the critical-need languages in the world today. The program will provide an opportunity for participants to design their own project to foster global awareness within their own communities or schools.

Open to rising 9th-graders to 12th graders.

Summer Dance Intensive with David Dorfman Dance Company

Open to rising 9th graders to 12th graders. Participants in this special program will have the opportunity to work with the nationally renowned David Dorfman Dance company through an intensive one-week program focused on technique and choreography while exploring how “bodies serve as powerful conductors of emotion, strength, vulnerability and change.”

Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

World Languages at Conn

Broaden your horizons by studying a new language! In this two-week intensive program, participants will have a chance to take classes with excellent faculty at Connecticut College. Program will consist of two-hours of daily class time and followed by a “language lunch table” where students can continue practicing with their instructor in a more informal setting. Options will include Russian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and French.

New Media Scholars

What does college research really look like? It’s no longer a 20-page paper. Over the course of this one-week program, students will become digital scholars by developing a video, a podcast, a website or an interactive map or timeline on the topic of their choice. Participants will combine traditional research techniques with digital tools that take advantage of technology to ask and answer questions in new ways. The resulting projects will contribute to public educational resources online, and provide students with a tangible example of their academic ability for résumés and college applications.
