Media Services, located in Shain Library Room 206, provides the Connecticut College community with equipment and technical support for classes and events. Find our hours of operation here. We offer assistance and consultation in the selection, design, and utilization of classroom and event space equipment and systems.
The Office of the Registrar assigns classrooms to classes. Once your classroom is assigned, contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule a classroom technology consultation. Find more information about classrooms and a list of classroom AV technology organized by building. If you have an AV issue during class, call 860-439-2698 or 2698 for immediate assistance.
If you plan to incorporate videoconferencing in your class, Media Services loans Meeting Owl 360 degree cameras, Yeti omnidirectional microphones, Logitech 180 degree webcams, and associated adaptors. Media Services provides instruction on equpment setup to improve video and audio quality depending on your classroom and teaching methods. In addition, several classrooms have built-in videoconferencing equipment: Dilley Room in Shain Library, Global Learning Lab in the Walter Commons for Global Study and Engagement, Fanning 101, and Fanning 102. The Office of Events and Catering (email@example.com or 860-439-5356) schedules locations, catering, and setups for all campus events. All events must be scheduled through the Office of Events and Catering at least 5 days in advance. Event requests made without 5 days advance notice are subject to a $50.00 late fee. Late requests will be considered only if staff and equipment are available. If Media Services is unable to support your event, we can recommend outside contractors.
For events requiring direct technical support and/or specialized set-ups, requests must be made 7 days in advance. Technical support on nights and weekends are billed at a rate of $25.00 an hour, with a minimum billing time of 4 hours. Media Services provides limited support for hybrid, recorded, or livestreamed events; contact Media Services 14 days in advance to discuss support options.
Media Services loans out various computer adapters including USB-C, HDMI, and VGA (4-hour limit). We also loan videoconferencing kits (Yeti omnidirectional microphone, Logitech 180 degree webcam, and associated adaptors), Meeting Owl 360 degree cameras, digital video cameras, and digital still cameras (24-hour limit).
