Berrien becomes chair of the Trustees July 1

Mother Nature Network (MNN), a new environmental news and information Web site launched in January and already hailed as "the USA Today of sustainability" and "the new green CNN," recently named James Berrien '74 president and chief operating officer. Read the press release.

For Berrien, who will also become chair of the Connecticut College Board of Trustees July 1, succeeding Barbara Shattuck Kohn '72, environmental sustainability has long been "a personal passion."

"I know there are millions like me who care about it deeply and seek information to make a difference," he said.

MNN has already been recognized worldwide by TIME, Fortune, Newsweek, The New York Times and The Associated Press.

Joel Babbit, co-founder and chief executive officer of MNN, said Berrien will accelerate the growth of the site.

"Jim is globally recognized as one of the most influential leaders in media today," Babbit said. 

Berrien previously was president and publisher of Forbes Magazine Group from 1999 to 2008, where he made Forbes magazine one of the world's leading business resources.
