The arts are alive at Connecticut College this April

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Spring is filled with art, music, dance, theater and film at Connecticut College. Unless otherwise stated, all events are free and open to the public and take place on the Connecticut College campus.

Art Exhibits

  • "Senior Art Minor Exhibition," open weekdays March 30 - April 22, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Manwaring Gallery, Cummings Art Center. Reception April 15, 4 p.m., Manwaring Gallery, Cummings Art Center.

Film Screenings

  • "Screaming Queens: The Riot at the Compton's Cafeteria," April 1, 4:30 p.m., LGBTQ Resource Center, Burdick Residence Hall.
  • "TransAmerica," April 8, 4:30 p.m., LGBTQ Resource Center, Burdick Residence Hall.

Dance Performances

  • "Paul Taylor Dance Company," one of the world's most highly respected dance troupes, performs as part of the onStage at Connecticut College series, April 3, 8 p.m., Palmer Auditorium. Tickets are $28, 24, 20 for the general public, $25, 21.50, 18 for seniors, and $14, 12, 10 for students. Call 860-439-ARTS for tickets.
  • "Dance Department Senior Thesis Concert," with choreography by Connecticut College dance majors Kate Enman, Rebecca Hite, Raja Kelly, Jennifer Mueller, Cassie Robertson, Carolyn Roose, Laura Snow and Laura Streit, and guest Tania Isaac, artistic director of Tania Isaac Dance, April 16 and 17, 7:30 p.m. and April 18, 2 p.m. and 7:30 pm., Palmer Auditorium.   • "Brian Skonberg and Jim Fryer's Borderline Jazz Band," with visiting faculty member John Clark (clarinet) joined by guest musicians Jimmy Mazzy (banjo), trumpeter/singer Brian Skonberg and multi-instrumentalist Jim Fryer; April 15, 7 p.m., Evans Hall, Cummings Art Center. Theater Performances

  • The Theater Department presents Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead," a student performance directed by Monica Raymunt '09, April 23 - 25, 8 p.m., and April 25 and 26, 2 p.m., Tansill Theater.
