Clarinet Monologues, an evening with Tom Labadorf
Clarinet Monologues features an evening with Tom Labadorf performing solos for clarinet and bass clarinet in Evans Hall on Friday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
As can be seen by the evening's selections, Labadorf enjoys varied tastes in musical styles as a chamber musician and a symphonist. He currently performs as principal clarinetist with the New Haven, Waterbury and New Britain Symphonies, performs regularly as a member of Harmonia V Woodwind Quintet and is a professor of applied clarinet at both Central Connecticut State University and Connecticut College.
The evening's selections include:
J.S. Bach's "Chromatic Fantasy," for solo clarinet
Igor Stravinsky's "Three Pieces," for solo clarinet
Eric Dolphy's "God Bless the Child," for solo bass clarinet
Charles Menoche's "Brautiganesques," for bass clarinet and electronics
Arthur Kreiger's "Uncommon Bonds," for clarinet and electronics
Steve Reich's "New York Counterpoint," for clarinet and 10 more Toms.
Tickets for the performance are $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and students, and may be purchased at the door; entrance is free to Connecticut College students, staff and faculty.
