onStage presents Rennie Harris Puremovement, a “whole body experience,” Oct. 22

Hip hop’s Rennie Harris Puremovement launches its 25th Anniversary Living History Tour in New London with an eye-popping appearance on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 8 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium.

The New York Times says of Rennie Harris Puremovement, “Mr. Harris shows his razor eye for threading virtuosic moves - the back flips, the aerials, the head spins, oh my! - into a tapestry of elegantly fluid popping and locking or simple walking patterns.”

“The company presents more than just a performance; it is a whole body experience. As the longest existing hip hop dance company worldwide, Harris' works are exquisite and not to be missed,” says Robert A. Richter '82, director of arts programming at Connecticut College.

This is a return to campus for Rennie Harris Puremovement. In February 2016, five company members, all hip hop pioneers who honor, preserve and document the tradition of hip hop dance, were in residence at Connecticut College as part of the “Hip Hop Year,” a Dayton Artist-in-Residence program hosted by the Dance Department. They presented a series of master classes, artist talks and workshops for the campus community and the public, exploring the continuing global impact of hip hop dance. They will be in residence at the College again on Oct. 20-22, 2016.

Tickets are $24 general admission; $21 for seniors; $12 for students; $7 for Connecticut College students and $21 for Connecticut College faculty and staff. Visit http://onstage.conncoll.edu for additional information about performances and to purchase tickets.
