Readings, discussion preview upcoming O'Neill play performance
onStage at Connecticut College will provide a preview of the Feb. 9 performance of Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten" with free public events on Feb. 3 and Feb. 5 that offer highlights of the play and O'Neill's contributions to American theater and close ties to New London.
On Wednesday, Feb. 3, at noon, upstairs in the Cro's Nest in the College Center at Crozier-Williams, Connecticut College theater students Mattie Barber-Bockelman, Cat Healey, Jason Karos and Spencer Lutvak will perform readings from two O’Neill plays set in New London, his childhood summer home: “Ah, Wilderness!” and “A Moon for the Misbegotten.” Robert Richter, an O’Neill scholar and director of arts programming, will contribute contextual information about the plays and O’Neill, and he will lead a brief discussion after the performance. Cookies and coffee will be provided. This event is presented in collaboration with Connsider, a student organization that promotes political, cultural and social awareness through talks, colloquia and events, focusing on a variety of fields of interest to foster academic dialogue outside the classroom.
On Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the O'Neills' summer home, Monte Cristo Cottage, at 325 Pequot Avenue, New London, O’Neill scholars Robert Dowling and Robert Richter will lead a discussion of the play “A Moon for the Misbegotten.” Light refreshments will be served.
